GIORGOS STATHOPOULOS
Giorgos Stathopoulos was born in 1944, in a village called Kalithea, in Agrinio. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts, with professors Yiannis Moralis, N. Nickolaou, Y. Pappas and D. Kalamaras (1966-1971). He has been presented in many group and personal exhibitions, in Greece and abroad. His work has clear references to the Greek spirit and combines surrealism with expressionism, with characteristic simplicity.
Apart from his main work, he also engaged with stage design, and illustrtated record covers, posters, books and utilitarian objects. Since 1996 he has engraved more than 200 works in copper and linoleum.
He lives and works in Athens.
